Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Maxwell Mantsebi-Tei Nagai has admonished Officers, Airmen/Women and Civilian Employees of the Air Force Base Takoradi to adopt proper security posture at the unit’s entry points and borders by carrying out thorough checks on persons who enter and exit the unit.
He said this is necessary and in support of intelligence gathering as there are looming treats of terror attacks following recent hits on neigbouring Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire among other West African countries.
Air Vice Marshal Nagai made this known during an all ranks’ durbar at the Air Force Base Takoradi on Friday, 28 July 2017 when he paid a one-day working visit to the unit to personally assess situations at the base.
He commended all departments/wings for throwing their weight behind the Base Commander, Group Captain Felix Nana Adom Asante in governing the base successfully. “Continue to support High Command because it is by combined efforts that we can ensure success”, he added.
Speaking on civil-military relations, the Air Chief stressed that, personnel should desist from brutalizing civilians but exhibit utmost professionalism even in the wake of severe provocation and accord them due respect; especially those operating from the base for the sake of interdependence.
Following on that, CAS advised that troops refrain from sharing military documents/information on social media pages or groups. He hinted that there are systems in place to trace and deal with personnel who post information mentioned above on social media. He also directed that all matters relating to press and public relations should be referred to the 2 Garrison Public Relations Officer/Unit and advised that personnel keep away from the press completely.
