The Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Ghana, Mr Hans-Helge Sander, has expressed commitment to strengthen relations with the Ghana Armed Forces when he visited the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa, at his office on Tuesday 3 October, 2017.
Mr Sander mentioned that he was ready to build on the already existing ties his country has with GAF over the years. Speaking further, the Deputy Ambassador said Germany would provide technical support to the GAF in areas of equipment and infrastructure, expand in peacekeeping training of Ghanaian personnel and also support Ghana with equipment at the ECOWAS Standby Force.
Mr Sander said his maiden visit would acquaint him with all aspects of cooperation that existed between his country and Ghana
On his part, the CDS thanked the Deputy Ambassador for his visit and also mentioned that he was looking forward to a cordial working relation with the German Armed Forces.
The Defence Attaché of Germany to Ghana, Col Thomas Brillisauer and the Chief Director at Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Lt Col Michael Reinwald accompanied the Ambassador for the visit.
