India is a Strong Strategic Partner – Hon Dominic Nitiwul

The Defence Minister, Hon Dominic Nitiwul extolled India as a strong strategic partner in defence intelligence, manufacturing, information technology and defence cooperation. He made this known when the outgoing Indian High Commissioner, HE Sugandh Rajaram visited The Square.
He appreciated India’s cooperation with Ghana in the area of scholarships, capacity building and defence intelligence and pledged to work diligently to enhance the existing cooperation between the two countries.
Hon Nitiwul requested India to assist Ghana and West Africa fight terrorism through Ghana’s initiative, ‘Northern Border Project’ which aims at ending terrorism. He further urged India to have stronger alliance in other parts of Africa.
HE Rajaram on his part used the occasion to appreciate Ghana’s hospitality and cooperation throughout his stay. He indicated that India appreciates the diplomatic and military relations that exist between the two countries and expressed their readiness to strengthen the bond especially in the area of capacity building and information technology in security development.
He extended an invitation to the Defence Ministry to participate in India’s yearly major programmes on defence, dubbed ‘India-Africa Defence Dialogue’ and ‘Defence Expo’ which aim at forming stronger alliance in the area of defence intelligence. He presented assorted souvenirs to the Minister to commemorate his visit.
The Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon Kofi Amankwa-Manu, the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr Evans A Dzikum, The Principal General Staff Officer and some Directors of the Ministry were present.
