A 5-member delegation led by the United Kingdom (UK) Commander of Field Army, Lieutenant General Ralph Wooddisse paid a courtesy call on the Defence Minister at The Square.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Ghana and the United Kingdom as well as intensify her support to Ghana in dealing with security threats emerging from the Gulf of Guinea and the Sahel Region.
Hon Dominic Nitiwul commended the UK Government for its support and provision of patrol vehicles to the military and other security services positioned at the subregion to facilitate their operations.
The Minister gave the assurance that, the tranquility and peace in the country will not be taken for granted; therefore, efforts are in place by the Ghana Navy and other security intelligence bodies to monitor terrorism, piracy and other illegal activities from neighbouring countries.
Lt Gen Wooddisse said the UK was ready to support Ghana in any way when the need arises to curb threats in the country’s northern borders.
