The Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Emad Hanna paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Defence, Hon Dominic Nitiwul at The Square.
The visit was to deepen the existing ties and cooperation between the two countries and to support Ghana in dealing with security threats emanating from the Gulf of Guinea and the Sahel Region.
HE Hanna stated that two types of armoured vehicles have been invented in Egypt and tested for use. They are therefore ready to hand over the vehicles to the Ghana Army for patrols and provide security protection around the northern borders to aid its operations. Furthermore, the Ambassador indicated that, they are also willing to cooperate with the Ghana Navy’s intelligence to combat terrorism around the Gulf of Guinea.
Hon Nitiwul hinted that, the Egyptian Air Force is playing a vital role in training the Ghana Air Force in the area of piloting. He added that with the assistance and support in terms of equipment and security intelligence from the Egyptian Military Forces, terrorism will be minimized around the Sahel Region.
