The Russian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency, Sergei Berdnikov paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Defence, Hon Dominic Nitiwul at The Square.

The aim of the visit was to strengthen the already existing bilateral cooperation between the Armed Forces of both countries, as well as explore other areas of security which will benefit them.

HE Berdnikov expressed his government’s delight to cooperate with Ghana by providing aid in the areas of security and defence and also to protect the maritime domain amidst its threats. He added that, the Russian Navy was active in the Gulf of Guinea complementing the efforts of countries in the Sub-Region.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Hon Nitiwul recalled the strong relationship between Ghana and Russia in the area of trade dating back to pre-colonial era. He expressed gratitude for the COVID-19 vaccines donated by the Russian Government.
