The Ministry of Defence has organised a comprehensive eye screening exercise and insurance education programme for its staff in collaboration with Treasured Eye Care Centre and Prudential Life Insurance Ghana as part of efforts to promote the health, well-being and financial security of personnel.

The exercise formed part of the Ministry’s workplace wellness initiatives aimed at encouraging the early detection and treatment of eye-related conditions while also creating awareness on the importance of securing the future through insurance and financial planning.
The Human Resources Director, Madam Comfort Kyereme, noted that the initiative was intended to help staff maintain good vision and overall health, stressing that healthy personnel remain essential to efficient service delivery within the Ministry. She added that the exercise would assist in identifying potential eye conditions at an early stage, thereby reducing the risk of long-term complications and improving the quality of life of staff members. Madam Kyereme also underscored the importance of insurance in protecting the future and urged staff to actively participate in both exercises.
The screening provided staff with the opportunity to undergo various eye tests conducted by professional optometrists and eye care specialists . The medical team screened participants for common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, refractive errors and other vision-related challenges that could affect productivity and daily activities if left untreated. Staff were also educated on proper eye care practices, healthy lifestyle habits and the need for periodic eye examinations.
Representatives from Prudential Life Insurance Ghana also engaged staff on the importance of financial security and insurance planning. The team presented a range of insurance products and policies tailored to meet the needs of workers and their families, including life protection, savings and investment plans, child education support packages and retirement-focused products.
