The Ministry of Defence has organized an intensive orientation programme at The Square to formally welcome onboard newly posted civil servants into defence administration. The initiative was designed to give the incoming personnel a clear understanding of the institution’s core mandate, administrative structures and expected professional standards, ensuring a smooth transition into their new roles.

​Welcoming the officers on behalf of the Defence Minister, Hon Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, the Director of Human Resources, Madam Comfort Kyereme, stated that the orientation was aimed at equipping the officers with the necessary information to enable them to effectively perform their duties and appreciate the work of the Ministry. She encouraged them to uphold professionalism, confidentiality and anonymity, punctuality as well as collaborate with colleagues and contribute meaningfully to the Ministry’s objectives. Madam Kyereme also cautioned the staff on the importance of maintaining absolute confidentiality and anonymity and adhere to the Ministry’s established Code of Conduct to uphold the good name of the Ministry.

Representatives from the various Directorates took turns delivering detailed presentations to ensure the new personnel are well-equipped for their various assignments. The sessions provided an in-depth knowledge on the various departmental functions and specific unit responsibilities, standard operational workflows and official communication protocols.

The Deputy Judge Advocate General, Col Ernest Awuah-Ameyaw swore in the new staff. He led them to take the Oath of Secrecy, Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office.

The orientation concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing the new civil servants a platform to engage leadership, clarify civil service procedures and discuss career progression and workplace expectations.
