The Ministry of Defence has joined the nationwide “Service to the Soul” blood donation drive in honour of the eight fallen heroes who lost their lives in the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash. The initiative, which forms part of activities marking the first anniversary of the tragedy, saw staff of the Ministry donate blood at the 37 Military Hospital in memory of the fallen heroes.

Addressing donors, the Officer in Charge of the 37 Military Hospital Blood Bank, Lt Col Yaw Oko-Bensa-Agyekum, highlighted the critical importance of regular blood donation in maintaining adequate supplies for patients in urgent need of blood. He also appealed to members of the public to voluntarily visit blood banks and contribute to saving lives through regular blood donation.

The blood donation exercise was held simultaneously at health facilities, district centres and regional hospitals across the country, as part of efforts to commemorate the lives and sacrifices of the Gallant Eight.
