The Ministry of Defence, has held a farewell ceremony in honour of the outgoing Deputy Defence Minister, Hon Ernest Brogya Genfi, marking the end of his tenure and celebrating his dedicated service, leadership and contributions to the Defence sector.

Speaking at the ceremony held at The Square, the Minister for Defence, Hon Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, commended Hon Brogya Genfi for his commitment to duty and the significant contributions he made to the Ministry during his tenure. He particularly acknowledged his steadfastness following the untimely passing of the late Defence Minister, Hon Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah. Hon Adjei noted that during the difficult period, Hon Brogya Genfi remained committed to the work of the Ministry and collaborated closely with the Acting Minister, Management and the Military High Command to ensure continuity and stability in the administration of the Defence sector.

Hon Adjei further lauded the outgoing Deputy Minister for his dedication and tireless efforts towards advancing the agenda of the Defence sector and strengthening the capacity of the Ministry. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation, support and institutional knowledge Hon Brogya Genfi offered upon his assumption of office and on behalf of Management and staff, thanked him for his distinguished service.

In his valedictory remarks, Hon Brogya Genfi expressed profound gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, HE John Dramani Mahama, the Minister for Defence, Management and staff of the Ministry, the Military High Command and allied partners for their support and professionalism throughout his tenure. He emphasised that the achievements recorded during his time in office were the result of teamwork, disciplined service and a shared commitment to national security.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of commemorative gifts and citations of honour to Hon Brogya Genfi by the Ministry of Defence and the Ghana Armed Forces. Among those who graced the occasion were the Acting Chief Director, Madam Comfort Kyereme; the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong; the Service Chiefs ; Management and Staff of the Ministry and the  Acting President National Defence University,  Air Vice Marshal Felix Adom Asante.

The farewell served as an opportunity to recognise Hon Brogya Genfi’s contributions to the Defence sector and to express appreciation for his service to the nation, while wishing him continued success in his future endeavours.
